Millersport and Grove City Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Lakers will venture away from home to take on the Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Miller hit Millersport with a four-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lakers came up short against the Falcons, falling 10-1. The Lakers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Millersport saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Everitt, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, Grove City Christian had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They never let the Warriors get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory. Considering the Eagles have won six games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Tyler Benedum made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Grove City Christian is 5-1 when Benedum posts two or more runs, but 4-6-1 otherwise.
In other batting news, Jadunn Harris was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jeff Collins, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Grove City Christian's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Millersport, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
Millersport might still be hurting after the 13-0 loss they got from Grove City Christian in their previous meeting on Thursday. Can the Lakers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
