Baldwinsville hasn't had much luck against Cicero-North Syracuse recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bees will welcome the Northstars at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Baldwinsville 3.3, Cicero-North Syracuse 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Tuesday, Baldwinsville got the win against Fayetteville-Manlius by a conclusive 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Bees, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Cicero-North Syracuse had just enough and edged out Rome Free Academy 6-4 on Tuesday. The Northstars have beaten the Black Knights the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Black Knights has come to flipping the script.
Jeremy Palmer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
In other pitching news, Landon Cook looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Lucas Aiello, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lawson Weckesser, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Baldwinsville's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Cicero-North Syracuse, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
Baldwinsville came out on top in a nail-biter against Cicero-North Syracuse when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Bees have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Northstars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
