The Chalmette Owls will challenge the Fontainebleau Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chalmette has four straight wins, Fontainebleau has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
While Chalmette's victory against Northshore wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Owls narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Panthers 23-20. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Owls have posted since November 22, 2024.

Breez Wilson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 80 yards and one TD on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 178 yards and one touchdown on only 14 passes. His passing game has become a key predictor of Chalmette's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. A healthy portion of Wilson's aerial production (86 yards to be exact) went to Rashawn Bangham, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Chalmette's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. In that department, Zion Robertson was the leader with two. Another thorn in Northshore's side was David Gonzalez, who picked up a sack and made nine total tackles (2.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception.
Meanwhile, Fontainebleau played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 32-7 to Salmen.
Fontainebleau didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Conner Tyson and Ky'Ron Clark. Fontainebleau got some further help from Travis Green: he picked up 1.5 sacks, forced 54 fumbles, and made 11 total tackles.
Chalmette's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Fontainebleau, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Chalmette has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 190.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Fontainebleau struggles in that department as they've been averaging 187.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Chalmette was able to grind out a solid victory over Fontainebleau in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 16-6. Do the Owls have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
