The Hammond Tornadoes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Mandeville, falling 67-30. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hammond in their matchups with Mandeville: they've now lost six in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mandeville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alanna Benoit, who scored 18 points along with five assists and five steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Benoit has scored at least 25% of Mandeville's points. Hannah Benoit was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with three steals.
Hammond bumped their record down to 12-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Mandeville, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hammond will play host again and welcome East Ascension, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mandeville, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against St. Scholastica at 5:30 p.m.
