Freedom has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. Having just played yesterday, they will jump right back in to play the Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology Colonials at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Freedom beat Clarke County 45-40. The win was all the more spectacular given Freedom's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Clarke County is ranked 48th).
Meanwhile, Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They breezed by Manassas Park on the road to the tune of 67-16. With Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology ahead 30-9 at the half, the game was all but over already.
It was another big night for Kaiden Kerkulah, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The match was her third in a row with at least ten points. Anika Saraf was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Freedom pushed their record up to 4-3 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-3.
Freedom beat Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology 46-39 when the teams last played back in February of 2019. The rematch might be a little tougher for Freedom since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
