Two dominant signal callers in Brandon Musch and Garrett Burrough are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Westminster Christian Acadmey Wildcats will face off against the Brooks Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Westminster Christian Acadmey extended their postseason success on Friday against Deshler. They secured a 39-35 W over the Tigers. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Musch was his usual excellent self, rushing for 189 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry, and also throwing for 111 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Brooks put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They really took it to Priceville for the full four quarters, racking up a 70-42 victory on the road. With Brooks ahead 42-21 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Brooks' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Omar Joyner, who rushed for 320 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 16.8 yards per carry. Joyner really tore up the turf during one magnificent 91-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Burrough, who rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries.
Their wins bumped Westminster Christian Acadmey to 10-2 and Deshler to 8-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Westminster Christian Acadmey has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 163.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Brooks struggles in that department as they've been even better at 273.5 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
