After a string of three wins, The Mandarin Mustangs''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 24-14 to Bartram Trail. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mandarin in their matchups with Bartram Trail: they've now lost six in a row.
Mandarin's loss came despite strong showings from Tramell Jones and Deshard Westcott. Jones threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns, while Westcott rushed for 101 yards on only nine carries. Westcott was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.
Laython Biddle was his usual excellent self, rushing for 248 yards and three touchdowns.
Mandarin's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Bartram Trail, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mandarin will square off against Winter Park at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
