Rich has gone a perfect 4-0 against Water Canyon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Rebels will square off against the Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. Rich has given up an average of 28.9 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Rich is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: St. Joseph, who was ranked eighth at the time (Rich was ranked second). The Rebels blew past the Jayhawks, posting a 71-40 victory. The Rebels' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Wilkes Weston was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 102 yards and one score, and also caught one TD. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 67 yards. Another signal caller making a difference was Jett Holmes, who threw for 109 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes.
Rich's run defense was locked in: St. Joseph could only muster 0.7 yards per carry. While six picked up at least two total tackles, Weston stood above the rest. He rushed for 102 yards and one TD, and also caught one score. Rich didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 16.7.
Rich didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Bode O'Mealy and Nash Parry. Parry got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Water Canyon walked away with it. They walked away with a 22-12 win over the Jayhawks on Friday.
Rich's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Water Canyon, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-7.
Everything came up roses for Rich against Water Canyon in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 47-8 victory. In that game, the Rebels amassed a halftime lead of 40-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
