North Decatur and Edinburgh are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Chargers will take on the Lancers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Decatur fell victim to Greensburg and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Pirates, falling 14-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Chargers were not able to get on the board.
While Edinburgh didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over South Decatur on Friday. Considering the Lancers have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kenna Streeval was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Shyla Watt was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Adalynn Ramey, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Wednesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. North Decatur has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. However, it's not like Edinburgh struggles in that department as they've averaged .512. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went North Decatur's way against Edinburgh in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as North Decatur made off with a 17-5 victory. Will the Chargers repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
