Ocean Springs is 2-8 against Biloxi since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Ocean Springs Greyhounds' homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Biloxi Indians at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Ocean Springs will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Biloxi is ranked 18th).
Ocean Springs' 14-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were outmatched by St. Martin at home and fell 51-13.
Biloxi has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Harrison Central with a sharp 47-26 win on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for Biloxi as they're now sitting on four straight.
Biloxi found their leader in underclassman Zaniya Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Biloxi's points. Aaliyah Davison was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Ocean Springs bumped their record down to 2-7 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.8 points per game. As for Biloxi, their victory bumped their record up to 12-1.
Ocean Springs came out on top in a nail-biter against Biloxi when the teams last played back in February of 2021, sneaking past 33-30. Does Ocean Springs have another victory up their sleeve, or will Biloxi turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
