After three games on the road, Amherst is heading back home. They will take on the Whitharral Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Amherst was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 51-47 to Anton.
Meanwhile, Whitharral unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Whiteface 56-50.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Nomar Gomez, who scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathaniel Sansom, who scored 12 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Amherst has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Whitharral, their loss dropped their record down to 19-5.
