The Oakwood Eagles will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Northeast Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Oakwood comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last 13 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Oakwood suffered their biggest loss since November 21, 2023 on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 78-19 loss at the hands of Rocky Mount Academy. Oakwood was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-7.
Meanwhile, Northeast Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They strolled past Albemarle School with points to spare, taking the game 73-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Northeast Academy found their leader in underclassman Jake Parks, who scored 26 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Parks is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dashawn Daye, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Oakwood bumped their record down to 0-13 with that defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road. As for Northeast Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-12.
Oakwood beat Northeast Academy 48-35 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Does Oakwood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northeast Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
