The Jefferson Dragons will challenge the Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Jefferson put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 49-6 victory over West Hall. The win continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won four in a row.

08/16/24 @ Marist | 125 |
08/15/25 vs Marist | 122.9 |
08/22/25 vs Jackson County | 114.1 |
10/11/24 vs East Hall | 97.9 |
Colton Grant looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 45 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (137.5). Another big playmaker for Jefferson was Dalton Dye, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Monroe Area earned a 38-28 victory over East Hall on Friday.
Jefferson better focus on containing Jitt Carr and Ezra Harrison as the pair were huge in Monroe Area's win. Carr rushed for 181 yards and three touchdowns, while Harrison rushed for 145 yards and one TD while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Carr's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 101 rushing yards.
Monroe Area didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited East Hall to a completion percentage of just 37.5%. The team can thank Kenzi Battle for the heroic effort on defense: he. Monroe Area has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.63 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.63 in their last three games.
Monroe Area didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Mason Scarborough, Parker Sims, and Battle picked up one apiece. Sims also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine. Monroe Area got some further help from Cortavious Scott: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made 17 total tackles.
Monroe Area's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Jefferson, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 5-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Jefferson has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 163.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Monroe Area struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 313.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything went Jefferson's way against Monroe Area in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Jefferson made off with a 38-14 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Purple Hurricanes' Forrest Ross, who rushed for 61 yards and one score, and also threw for 136 yards and one TD. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Dragons to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
