The San Ramon Valley Wolves will head out on the road to challenge the Amador Valley Dons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. San Ramon Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so Amador Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
San Ramon Valley is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering California just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Grizzlies by a score of 4-3.
Ava Lyons made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. Charlie Callison also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Amador Valley). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Dublin an 18-0 shutout on Thursday. With that victory, the Dons brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Lauren Tran was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Tran was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other pitching news, Kaylee Davis looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Ava Davis was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mai Falcone, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Amador Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
San Ramon Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7-2. As for Amador Valley, their record is now 10-12.
San Ramon Valley couldn't quite finish off Amador Valley in their previous meeting back in April and fell 4-2. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
