The Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Rebels will take on the Staples-Motley Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton's favor as the team sits on ten straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Staples-Motley has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.
Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over Breckenridge. Considering the Rebels have won six games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Breckenridge's batters probably weren't too happy with Autumn Leach, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (she gave up four walks).
At the plate, Katie Kittelson was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Mady Myklebust was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Staples-Motley hadn't done well against Perham recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Cardinals walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Yellowjackets.
Not much got past Addie Potter, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Perham off the board. Potter has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Emersen Bettis was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Becker, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Staples-Motley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Perham only posted an OBP of .192.
Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Staples-Motley, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton took their victory against Staples-Motley in their previous matchup back in April of 2017 by a conclusive 17-0 score. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
