District 10 Region 6 AAA recap Oct. 3, 2012
Central Tech moved up to 268 from 363 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in District 10 Region 6 AAA. A 30-21 win over Meadville helped the Falcons improve their standing.
Cathedral Prep extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Ursuline, 47-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Ramblers.
East's dynamic duo of Jauwan Ford and Avery Kirksey proved tough for Slippery Rock to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Ford threw for 348 yards and two touchdowns and Kirksey had 176 yards receiving. Eddie Williams helped East's passing attack out by catching six balls for 125 yards.
Xzavier Warner was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 106 yards on 15 carries as Strong Vincent lost to the Rockets. Teammate Hassam Farooq added to the ground attack by rushing for 101 yards.
6-foot-4 quarterback Damion Terry of Cathedral Prep is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1017. He has also thrown 14 touchdowns. On the ground, McDowell's James Conner has rushed for 558 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Kirksey. The East star has 18 catches for 422 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Michael Mischler's team and the Trojans. The Ramblers comes into the matchup ranked fifth in the state, while McDowell ranks 12th.
Cathedral Prep took down the Fighting Irish 47-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
