The Northern York Polar Bears will face off against the Donegal Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Northern York gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Waynesboro. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Polar Bears.

Andrew Weaver looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
At the plate, Ryland Yinger was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Matthew Kendall, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Donegal ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Eastern Lebanon County 4-3. The win was nothing new for the Indians as they're now sitting on three straight.
Chase Gerz looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sawyer Floyd, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Donegal's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 7-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't).
Donegal pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Northern York, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
Northern York couldn't quite finish off Donegal in their previous matchup back in May of 2015 and fell 3-1. Will the Polar Bears have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
