The Lake Stevens Vikings will head out to face off against the Jackson Timberwolves at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake Stevens is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Lake Stevens gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Cascade as they made off with a 10-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.
Lake Stevens got a massive performance out of Emerson Cummins, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That's the most runs Cummins has posted since back in March. Elliott Ross also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lake Stevens kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday Jackson sidestepped Glacier Peak for a 6-5 victory. The Timberwolves haven't had any issues with the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Clara Dorgan was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Ediger, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
The victory got Jackson back to even at 8-8. As for Lake Stevens, their record is now 7-5.
Lake Stevens' speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Vikings have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Jackson, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Lake Stevens continue to outrun the ball?
Lake Stevens skirted past Jackson 10-8 in their previous matchup on April 2nd. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
