The Paint Branch Panthers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Walter Johnson Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. on January 16th.
Last Thursday, Paint Branch was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 50-46 to Sherwood. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Paint Branch in their matchups with Sherwood: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Walter Johnson scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Churchill 67-36 at home. Walter Johnson has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 31 points or more this season.
Walter Johnson can attribute much of their success to Kendall Alexander, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and five steals, and Mira Mann, who scored 19 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Mann scored 15 or more points. Norah Youssef was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds.
Paint Branch's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Walter Johnson, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.
Paint Branch was dealt a bruising 62-29 defeat at the hands of Walter Johnson in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Paint Branch avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
