The Eaton Eagles will face off against the St. Henry Redskins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Eaton will bounce into Saturday's game after beating Carlisle, who they had gone 0-7 against in their seven prior meetings. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Indians on Monday.
Meredith Pieratt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Madison Copper was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Ella Statzer, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, St. Henry can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They skirted past New Bremen 16-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Redskins have posted since March 28, 2024.
Leah Lefeld made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Lefeld was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, St. Henry got a massive performance out of Natalie Schwieterman, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave Schwieterman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rya Buschur, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
St. Henry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
St. Henry's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Eaton, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Eaton was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Henry in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 8-4. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Redskins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
