Mariyon Sloan Turns in Season-Best Effort
Shafter was led to victory by Mariyon Sloan, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Thursday. Sloan rushed for 252 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 61 yards.
Kennedy had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Sloan it was a similar story. Sloan picked up 119 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground the last time he and the Thunderbirds duked it out back in October of 2023.

Hammie Lopez's rushing tear continued on Friday as he dropped his third-straight game with 174+ rushing yards. He rushed for 207 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Thanks to that strong showing, he's now averaging 2.1 rushing touchdowns per game. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making four total tackles (2.0 for loss).
The win got Wasco back to even at 4-4. Lopez and Wasco will take on Delano at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Kennedy Gets a Boost from Demacabalin in 34-28 Defeat
Jace Demacabalin's rushing tear continued on Thursday as he dropped his 11th-straight game with 119+ rushing yards dating back to last season. He rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 50 yards.
Demacabalin is probably looking forward to his next game, a home matchup against Taft on Friday. Demacabalin rushed for 186 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry the last time he and the Wildcats duked it out back in September of 2023.

Jesus Vasquez posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Thursday. He rushed for 82 yards. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 64 yards.
