The Battle Creek Academy Tigers won the last time they faced the Will Carleton Academy Cougars, and things went their way on Monday too. Battle Creek Academy had just enough and edged the Cougars out 49-47.
Nathan Thomson was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ivan Troncoso, who scored 12 points along with five steals.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyler Barnes, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Barnes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. William Thielen was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Battle Creek Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Will Carleton Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
Battle Creek Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Bobcats on January 30th. As for Will Carleton Academy, they will square off against the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Adams-Jerome has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
