Baseball Recap: Mount Everett Regional Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mount Everett Regional ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They skirted past the Smith Academy Falcons 9-7. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Matt Lowe and Trevor Leonard made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Lowe pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Leonard struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Lowe has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Lowe went 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base, while Leonard went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Lowe has snagged this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Kreis, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Gavin Snyder was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Mount Everett Regional's record now sits at 5-2. As for Smith Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Everett Regional will take on Drury at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Smith Academy, they will square off against Turners Falls at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
