After soaring to 31 points the game before, The Rancho Bernardo Broncos were a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They lost to San Marcos at home by a decisive 27-10 margin. Rancho Bernardo was down 24-3 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Trey Durham threw for 112 yards and a touchdown on only eight passes. Nick Miller was his top target, picking up 49 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Terrick Fisher rushed for 68 yards.
San Marcos found their leader in underclassman Kreet Makihele, who threw for 353 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 14.7 yards per attempt. Another player making a difference was Jase Nix, who picked up 184 receiving yards.
Rancho Bernardo has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for San Marcos, the win was the fourth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rancho Bernardo will challenge Mt. Carmel at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Carmel is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for San Marcos, they will head out on the road to face off against Del Norte at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Del Norte will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
