The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy in their matchups with Veritas Christian Academy: they've now lost five in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Arianna Ritz, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Denson, who scored 13 points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Challenger had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Lake Lure Classical Academy 40-17. Challenger has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 23 points or more this season.
Challenger's win last Thursday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from LeeAnna Killian, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Grace Boston, who scored six points along with two steals.
Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4. As for Challenger, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-6.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Challenger struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
