Baseball Recap: Soper Has No Trouble Against Varsity Opponent

Soper's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over Varsity Opponent. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Caleb Britt made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Caydin Carter was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Levi Bailey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Soper is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Soper will head out to square off against Kiowa at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Varsity Opponent does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
