After flying high against the Kaiser Cougars last Monday, the Nanakuli Golden Hawks came back down to earth. Nanakuli ended up on the wrong side of a tough 60-39 walloping at the hands of Punahou on Thursday. Nanakuli has struggled against Punahou recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Punahou got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ayndra N Uperesa-Thomas out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of James Taras, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds.
Nanakuli's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Punahou, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Nanakuli will take on Mid-Pacific Institute at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday. Punahou won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Kamehameha Hawai'i at 8:00 p.m. on December 8th.
