Westside is a perfect 4-0 against Emerald since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Rams will be playing at home against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Westside's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Emerald's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Westside fell victim to Wren and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Hurricanes by a score of 1-0. Considering the last time the Rams couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.
Emerald never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Southside on Tuesday. They blew past the Tigers 21-6. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won six matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Destinee Powers made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Powers was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Lonna Ann Holloway and Laniya Moore did most of the damage at the plate: Holloway went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI, while Moore went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Holloway a new career-high. Emma Cline was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Emerald hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive games.
Westside has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-6 record this season. As for Emerald, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.
Everything went Westside's way against Emerald in their previous matchup back in March, as Westside made off with a 21-0 victory. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
