The Minneola Wildcats were the 64-50 winner over the LaCrosse Leopards when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The matchup between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Minneola falling 57-40. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while LaCrosse is ranked 40th).
Braegen Shelor and Maiya Shelor certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Shelor scored 14 points along with seven rebounds, while Shelor scored 20 points. Shelor scored a full 35% of Minneola's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
LaCrosse's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Avery Parrott, who scored nine points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. Parrott set a new season high mark in rebounds with seven. Clara Thielenhaus was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and eight assists.
This is the second loss in a row for Minneola and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for LaCrosse, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1.
Minneola and South Gray will face off without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. South Gray has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 240 points over their last four contests. LaCrosse and Dighton will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
