Severance is 5-0 against Mountain View since February of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Severance Silver Knights just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Mountain View Mountain Lions at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Severance will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Even though Thompson Valley scored an imposing 62 points on Wednesday, Severance still came out on top. Severance walked away with a 71-62 win over Thompson Valley.
It was another big night for Brady Varney, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Jaden Hoffman was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mountain View pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 70-60 to Frederick. Even though they lost, Mountain View's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.4 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Bradey Messinger put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 25 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Dylan Garland, who scored 16 points.
Severance pushed their record up to 11-4 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Mountain View, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
Thursday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Severance have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 42.2% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Mountain View struggles in that department as they've made 39.1% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Severance strolled past Mountain View in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 51-33. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Garland, who scored 23 points along with two blocks.
