The Eagle Valley Devils will venture away from home to square off against the Glenwood Springs Demons at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Eagle Valley has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with four straight losses, while Glenwood Springs will come in with eight straight victories.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Eagle Valley and Battle Mountain, and Battle Mountain kept the tradition alive. The Devils fell 8-4 to the Huskies on Tuesday.
Eagle Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Rozga, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. James Bivins was another, going 1-for-2 with two runs.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Glenwood Springs ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They walked away with a 12-9 win over Basalt.
Jackson Irving was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Irving was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evan Neuman, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Josh Doll, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Glenwood Springs' victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Eagle Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
Eagle Valley might still be hurting after the 18-6 loss they got from Glenwood Springs in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
