There's no place like home for The Mt. Zion Braves, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Mater Dei 41-6 at home. The result was nothing new for Mt. Zion, who have now won five games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Makobi Adams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 302 yards and five touchdowns, while also rushing for 85 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Trimble, who picked up 117 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Mater Dei's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Chandler Toennies and his two sacks.
Mt. Zion's win was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.8 points per game. As for Mater Dei, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
Mt. Zion will be playing in front of their home fans against Effingham at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mater Dei, they will head out on the road to face off against Carmi-White County at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
