Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Buckeye

Buckeye entered their tilt with Strongsville on Saturday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Mustangs 26-9. The result was nothing new for the Bucks, who have now won nine matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Juliana Melillo, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Casandra Minarchick was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI.

Buckeye was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in seven consecutive games.

Buckeye's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.3 runs over those games. As for Strongsville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Buckeye will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Normandy at 5:00 p.m. As for Strongsville, they have already played their next contest, a 10-1 victory against St. Joseph Academy on the 21st.
