The Deerfield Demons will challenge the Mineral Point Pointers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Deerfield 3, Mineral Point 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Cambridge hit Deerfield with a four-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Demons took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bluejays. Demons fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Bluejays since Thursday.
Meanwhile, Mineral Point waltzed into their contest on Thursday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Redbirds a 24-0 shutout. Considering the Pointers have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Tenleigh Bockhop and Aida Tuttle made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Bockhop struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Tuttle tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bockhop has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, Bockhop went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Tuttle went 3-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs Tuttle has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Mineral Point let Ava Ingwell and Austyn Kinch run wild. Ingwell went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Kinch went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Ingwell has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe McVay, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Mineral Point hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive matchups.
This is the second loss in a row for Deerfield and nudges their season record down to 7-6. As for Mineral Point, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.
