1A-1 Region I District 4 recap September 17, 2013
Dusty Hines of Winters ran for the longest rushing play in 1A-1 Region I District 4 this season against Bronte last week. Hines scampered for 78 yards on the play and finished with 119 on the day as his team beat the Longhorns.
Chris Gerhart and J. J. Ripley provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Bronte. The longest such play in the league this season, the connection resulted in 80 yards.
Winters' dynamic duo of Gerhart and Ripley proved tough for Kevin Burns' team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gerhart threw for 246 yards and 3 touchdowns and Ripley had 143 yards receiving. Daryl Hagle helped Winters' passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 103 yards.
Stan Caffey's team's dynamic duo of Gerhart and Ripley proved to be unstoppable against the Longhorns, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Gerhart put up the best numbers through the air as the Blizzards defeated Bronte.
He was 7-14 with 1 interceptions.
Ripley was the best wideout in the league this week as Winters defeated the Longhorns.
Bo Wimberly was the best running back in 1A-1 Region I District 4 this week. He ran for 182 yards on 21 carries as Stamford bested Bronte. Teammate Eric Sanchez added to the ground attack by rushing for 57 yards.
Anson moved up to 288 from 323 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tigers climbed the ranks as a result of beating Jim Ned 61-33.
