The Miramonte Matadors will venture away from home to face off against the Deer Valley Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Miramonte is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Miramonte is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Moreau Catholic just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They lost 14-4 to the Mariners.

Gianna Granzella made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Talia Kardon, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Deer Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Antioch on Thursday and fell 13-11. The Wolverines have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
Katalina Rogel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and nine unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Braelyn Valdez led a balanced group of hitters, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 2-for-3. Fennie Kolaco also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Deer Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Miramonte, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Miramonte hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Deer Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .321. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Miramonte's way against Deer Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Miramonte made off with a 17-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Matadors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
