The Archbishop Carroll Patriots will take on the Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic Friars/Pandas at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Saturday, Archbishop Carroll sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over Shipley. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.
Max Barnes tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Danny Mcnally, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic made easy work of Radnor on Saturday and carried off a 9-2 victory. Considering the Friars/Pandas have won six games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Joey Graziani made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Graziani was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Sergio Hernandez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Cole Romano also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Archbishop Carroll, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
