Ithaca has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The Johnson City Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Johnson City took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Ithaca, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Ithaca strolled past Lansing with points to spare, taking the game 32-14.
Meanwhile, Johnson City suffered a tough 42-20 defeat at the hands of Windsor Central on Friday. While losing is never fun, Johnson City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 408th, while Windsor Central is ranked 134th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Felix Morales, who gained 156 total yards. He was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 60 yards. Fenesse Morales also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Ithaca's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.3 points per game. As for Johnson City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.
Everything came up roses for Ithaca against Johnson City when the teams last played back in September of 2021 as the squad secured a 51-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ithaca since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
