Monroe Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sydney Patterson, who went 6 of 12 en route to 16 points and five steals. Patterson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Abe Ervin, who went 8 for 11 on her way to 16 points and five assists.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 52-25, which was the final score in Union's tilt against Daleville on Friday. The Rockets haven't had much luck with the Broncos recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Monroe Central will have to contain Glory Ellis as she made an impact in Union's last game. She almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. That was a full 56% of Union's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Melissa Schmucker, who earned two points and six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Union smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.
Monroe Central has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.2 points. As for Union, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Monroe Central has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Union struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Monroe Central against Union in their previous meeting back in January, as the team secured a 57-15 win. In that game, Monroe Central amassed a halftime lead of 31-9, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
