If the Colton-Pierrepont Colts were feeling good off their 66-43 takedown of the St. Regis Falls Saints on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Colton-Pierrepont received a tough blow on Thursday as they fell 62-45 to Brushton-Moira. Colton-Pierrepont was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Brushton-Moira apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.
Colton-Pierrepont's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eric Friedel, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Nate Smith was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Colton-Pierrepont's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2. As for Brushton-Moira, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colton-Pierrepont will take on St. Lawrence Central at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully St. Lawrence Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday. Brushton-Moira will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Peru at 7:15 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
