Greenbrier Christian Academy has gone a perfect 5-0 against Hampton Christian Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Greenbrier Christian Academy will host Hampton Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. Greenbrier Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.1 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, it was close, but Greenbrier Christian Academy sidestepped Perquimans for a 6-4 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Gators have posted against the Pirates since April 7, 2017.
Haleigh Murphy was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reagan Frank, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bayleigh Kahiler, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Hampton Christian Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on Norfolk Christian with a sharp 22-3 win on Thursday. The Warriors have beaten the Ambassadors the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Ambassadors has come to flipping the script.
Like Greenbrier Christian Academy, Hampton Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Reese Krantz. On the mound, she struck out 16 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. That's the most strikeouts Krantz has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.
In other batting news, Hampton Christian Academy let Jewel O'Conner and Jayla Crosby run wild. O'Conner went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs, while Crosby got on base in five of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave Crosby a new career-high. Lexie Dennis was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Hampton Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Norfolk Christian only posted an OBP of .269.
Greenbrier Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Hampton Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Everything went Greenbrier Christian Academy's way against Hampton Christian Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Greenbrier Christian Academy made off with a 12-0 victory.
