Jacksonville is 8-2 against the Wildcats since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Jacksonville Golden Eagles' road trip will continue as they head out to face the White Plains Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully Jacksonville is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Wildcats in Alabama (the Golden Eagles are ranked 160th, while the Wildcats are ranked 329th).
Last Thursday, Jacksonville didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Valley Cubs, but they still walked away with a 58-52 win. The win was just what Jacksonville needed coming off of a 70-44 defeat in their prior matchup.
Jacksonville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Deasia Prothro led the charge by scoring nine points along with two steals. Prothro has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Jayci Taylor was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, White Plains' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 16th straight defeat. They took a 59-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lincoln.
Jacksonville now has a winning record of 15-14. As for White Plains, they dropped their record down to 8-18 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Jacksonville against the Wildcats in their previous meeting two weeks ago as the team secured a 59-29 victory. Will Jacksonville repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
