4A Metro Top Player Performances of the Week
Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!
Ian Mckinnon's Rushing Yards a New Career-High
Starting off the list is Southeast Guilford's Ian Mckinnon, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. On Friday Mckinnon made 11 total tackles, good enough to also set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Southeast Guilford is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise.
The win (which was Southeast Guilford's third in a row) raised their record to 5-3. It'll be Northside v. Southside when their and Northwest Guilford meet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

A Season-Best Performance from Faizon Brandon Leads Grimsley over Southwest Guilford
Faizon Brandon produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Grimsley to the win on Friday. Brandon rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 136 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. The performance marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in August of 2023. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 86-yard run.
Unfortunately for Southwest Guilford, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Brandon. Brandon threw for 204 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 passes, and also rushed for 40 yards the last time he and the Cowboys duked it out back in October of 2023.

Mitchell Summers Dazzles in Grimsley Win
Mitchell Summers was instrumental in extending Grimsley's winning streak to eight on Friday. Summers did his part (and then some), rushing for 86 yards and four touchdowns on only eight carries for the 'W'. He is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last 11 games he's played dating back to last season.
Summers must have Southwest Guilford's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Summers saw the Cowboys), he rushed for 183 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries.

Dwight Hall Crosses Big Stat Threshold
Dwight Hall was instrumental in extending Northern Guilford's winning streak to eight on Friday. Hall made a major impact, rushing for 153 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. The performance once again pushed his average rushing yardage north of 100 yards per game (101.1).
If the past is any indication, Hall could be in store for another big game when he takes on Western Guilford on Thursday. When Hall last faced the Hornets back in October of 2023, he rushed for 203 yards while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.

Micah Williams Delivers Best Performance of Season
On Friday, Grimsley got the W thanks in part to Micah Williams playing the best football he has all season. Williams rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. His longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
This season, Williams has run in 4 touchdowns while averaging 74.1 rushing yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after seven games last season, he was only averaging 11.71 rushing yards per game.
