The Leake Academy Rebels stacked an 18th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Lamar on the road to the tune of 61-24. With Leake Academy ahead 30-10 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Leake Academy was led to victory by Ella Bell and Katye Jones. Bell scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Jones scored 16 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Jenna Allen, who scored five points along with four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Lamar lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aryah Grace. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals. That was a full 75% of Lamar's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Leake Academy pushed their record up to 22-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Lamar, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.
Leake Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Wayne Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wayne Academy has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 17. As for Lamar, they will head out on the road to challenge Simpson Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
