Baseball Recap: Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian entered their tilt with Mountain Lake/Comfrey on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past Mountain Lake/Comfrey 12-3. The Flying Dutchmen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

Tanner Thomson and Blake Schultz were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Thomson pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Schultz pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Thomson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Thomson went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI, while Schultz got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.

In other batting news, Logan Bleyenberg and Caden Sas did most of the damage at the plate: Bleyenberg went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Sas went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two RBI. Bleyenberg is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Hoekman, who earned two RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian's record is now 7-3. As for Mountain Lake/Comfrey, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Coming up, Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian will square off against Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Flying Dutchmen surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mountain Lake/Comfrey, they will take on Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther/Truman at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
