After flying high against the Fossil Ridge Panthers last Friday, The Keller Indians came back down to earth. Keller took a 35-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Timber Creek. The match was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but Keller was outscored by Timber Creek in the second.
Tre Griffiths and Beckham Robinson certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Griffiths picked up 142 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Robinson threw for 286 yards and four touchdowns. Griffiths hasn't dropped below 100 receiving yards for three straight games.
Timber Creek got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dozie Ezukanma out in front who picked up 243 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Ezukanma's longest reception was for an incredible 73 yards. Adarion Nettles and his 112 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Timber Creek's win.
Keller has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-3 record this season. As for Timber Creek, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Keller will be playing in front of their home fans against Haltom at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Haltom is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Timber Creek, they will head out on the road to face off against Keller Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keller Central comes in on a streak of failing to score more than ten points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
