Spanish Fort took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Fairhope Pirates as they made off with a 27-7 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Toros, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Spanish Fort to victory, but perhaps none more so than Justin 'JuJu' Bonner, who rushed for 111 yards and two TDs. Aaden Shamburger also helped out as he racked up 101 rushing yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Spanish Fort was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 228 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 174 rushing yards in nine consecutive games dating back to last season.

Spanish Fort didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Dominic Williams and Justin Vines. Vines has been hot, having also posted at least one defended passe the last seven times he's played. Spanish Fort received some extra help from Sam Wilder, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
