The Poudre Impalas will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Fort Collins Lambkins at 7:00 p.m. Poudre will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 204th, while Fort Collins is ranked 53rd).
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 68-40, which was the final score in Poudre's tilt against Legacy on Tuesday. Poudre was down 55-25 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Meanwhile, Fort Collins waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 72-65 win over Brighton. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Poudre has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Fort Collins, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Poudre came up short against Fort Collins when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 75-67. Thankfully for Poudre, Luke Wagstaff (who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
