Baseball Recap: Hart Snags Sixth Victory in Last Seven Games

While Hart's victory against Castaic wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hawks won by a run and slipped past the Coyotes 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hawks have posted since March 15th.

Mason Cummings looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ryder Frithsmith was incredible, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Anthony Cavarretta was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Hart is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.8 runs. As for Castaic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-9.

Looking ahead, Hart will head out to square off against Ventura at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Castaic, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Heritage Christian at 11:00 a.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Coyotes 3.9, the Warriors 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
