The Cannelton Bulldogs will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Christian Academy Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Cannelton is out to stop a eight-game streak of losses at home.
Cannelton suffered their biggest loss since December 4, 2023 on Saturday. They had to suffer through a rough 68-34 loss at the hands of Lighthouse Christian Academy. Cannelton found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post 12 fewer assists than your opponent.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kylie Anastasiades, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaliyah Little, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Christian Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Jeffersontown 63-10 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Christian Academy has managed all season.
Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Leah Stevens led the charge by going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stevens has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Alexus Bryant, who scored 18 points.
Cannelton's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season.
Tuesday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Cannelton have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 23.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 29.2 rebounds per game. Given Cannelton's sizeable advantage in that area, Christian Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
